JJ Lin struts his stuff at “I AM” World Tour with Sennheiser

JJ Lin thrilled the 10,000 fans who packed the launch of his second World Tour, “I AM,” at Capital Indoor Stadium with a line-up of 33 songs, including a medley that was similar to the one he sang at the 2010 Golden Melody Awards (GMA) in Taiwan. Lin was one of this year’s GMA’s Best Mandarin Male Singer Award finalists.

The world tour was a chance for the singer-songwriter to showcase the best of his discography. Lin has released an album every year since his debut in 2003, his latest offering being “100 Days,” which was released last December. The 29-year-old Singaporean’s career began in his home country with the launch of “Music Voyager.” However, this talented artist, who now resides in Taiwan, has since been recognized abroad, as proven by the string of awards he has collected from around the region.

Lin demands only the best from himself and those around him, which is why he picked Sennheiser to support both his first and second world tours. This time, Lin’s tour schedule will feature stops at eight Chinese cities, Singapore, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong, all before June 2011. “JJ wanted the same equipment list as for his last world tour because the equipment had proven to be a system that could keep pace with his rigorous dance routines,” said monitor engineer Howard Chen.

The HSP 4 headset coupled with the SK 5212 bodypack created an unobtrusive combination that gave Lin peace of mind when he was performing onstage. He appreciated this combination so much that he even tweeted to his fans, “Sennheiser, you complete my stage with your superbly lightweight and high-quality head mics. Smallest in the world!”

FOH Engineer Don Lo said, “We were very thankful for the support from Sennheiser Global Relations. We only notified them about the equipment list just before the tour started but they still got us what we needed.” In addition to the SK 5212 and HSP 4, Sennheiser also provided Lin with the SKM 5200 wireless microphone with MD 5235 capsule and the EM 3532 receiver.

Sennheiser first signed an endorsement agreement with Lin in 2007, and has extended it this year to support his second world tour. “We are glad to continue to support JJ Lin as he is a singer-songwriter who appreciates the finer points about sound quality,” said Vince Tan, Sennheiser’s Relations Manager for Asia and Australia.
